    Hi all.

Very quick, weird question: I have an Acer Aspire One ZG5 which has been in heavy, daily use since 2009. I've previously upgraded the RAM, replaced its keyboard etc.

Today I was in the process of opening it up when I decided to take a look inside the WiFi hatch on the bottom of the machine - around the screws and completely around the inside edge of the plastic hatch/door was what appeared to be a lot of very bright green, dried (I assume) fluid.

Nothing has ever been spilled on the machine. Has something inside melted/corroded? The machine does become rather hot at times.

I doubt anyone will be able to shed any light on this, but many thanks for reading in any case.

    Caroline. :)

Split pea soup? Seriously, Are you sure it's coming from the inside out or, perhaps, you were using the netbook on some surface that perhaps melted a bit and the green goo leaked in around the hatch? doubt that it is from within the computer if it continues to otherwise work OK. I too have the same model with the max 1.5 gig memory. Updated to Windows 7 Home a couple years back at it's still humming along.

Usually a green residue you describe would come from a battery that is leaking. It starts out wet and then dries to a powdery substance. Be careful if it is as electrolyte may be caustic and cause burns.

Doubt it is battery acid. 1. You said it was bright green. 2. The main battery on your ZG5 mounts externally. So any leakage would have been noticed outside the netbook. 2. Should the CMOS battery on the motherboard leaked your date and time would fall back to their default position (something like 01/01/2009 and the time would be 12:00 AM. At worst, the computer wouldn't boot at all
