Well my Mom went and got the Gateway and I played with it for a few hours. It didn't seem to work as well as the Acer when playing shows from Hulu or ABC.com. I didn't have any problems with the Acer but the Gateway kept stopping and stuttering. I

I am wondering if alot of the lag time that was experienced on the AO751h-1893 is due to the fact that it has Vista on it. This is the exact model I have been considering. Even though it comes with 2GB ram I wonder if that is enough. Unfortunately, Costco doesn't carry this model but does carry the 3-cell version. The one that I had previously had XP on it and like I said played Hulu and most of my games just fine. It just locked up every once in a while.

Thanks for all of the replies. I want to make the right decision this time so that I can avoid having to return it. Costco does carry the Samsung but it appears to be built with the same specs as the Acer but for more money. My understanding is that if the internals are the same it will run the same. The Samsung is also $100 more than the Acer. Am I correct in assuming I would just be paying for the name?

One big advice: get a netbook with a 6 cell battery... it is sooooo worth it.
I came back to the store nd returned the defective unit and I had to travel to their warehouse just to get this netbook.
So I began installing some of the updates and removing the junk preinstalled softwares for about 3 hours... it didn't freeze!

When the windows updated tried installing... well guess what happened? It froze again. I thought it must be windows or the updates....
after installing them I then proceeded to browse the net. I only had 2 browsers open, and I'm still using internet explorer 7, then the screen went black, wouldn't turn off!
To add more, it gets so hot underneath, I read here this might also be the cause of the lock ups. So I'm guessing Acer must have hardware issues. Another defective unit perhaps?

I don't want to go back to the store and have this replaced again. I picked this particular model because I just love the 11.6 screen they offer and the additonal RAM and hardrive.

If I were you I'd go with the samsung. Just add $20 more but minus the 1 GB of RAM and a little less hard drive... I know its going to be worth it. Read a lot of reviews and not a single bad thing they said about samsung. I am sad to see I am not the only one experiencing this problem. So save yourself from the hassle!
BTW, VISTA sucks on intel's atom processors. I will soon change to Windows 7. Hope it will resolve the freezing or lock up issues.
