stupid steam error

    i did a duel boot with leopard and xp, and when i installed steam is says "Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load library Steam.dll" anyone else have this prob? Any way to fix this

    Try deleting that file and/or ClientRegistry.blob and run Steam again. See if that helps!

    didnt work: said the same error and re- installed that file

    fixed it: plugged int hte network cable. That was stupid on my part

    Yeah this problem happens under a lot of circumstances but the root cause is not being able to reach the Steam service. I don't know why they didn't write a better error message but the causes can be:
    *No network connectivity
    *Software firewall blocking the connection (Windows firewall needs allow the connection)
    *Hardware firewall blocking the connection (Stop playing games at work :) )

    If you have the problem but have network connection, go into the Windows firewall settings and delete any exception that is Steam or HL related. Then relaunch Steam. Windows will prompt you to allow the program again and that should fix it.

    If you go to Steam's KB pages and search for that error you'll get more complete info too.
