    What are you trying to install ?

    Just running "yum update" without specifying packages is a very, very bad idea on the One, since it is not a standard fedora 8 distro, but one heavily customised by Acer and Linpus.

    What did Acer and Linpus have to do?
    I'd rather have a standard OS.

    As it comes, the One's OS is effectively locked down, only to be updated with the Live Update on the desktop.
    If you choose to tinker with your system, then you must expect the stuff Acer has setup not to work anymore...
    If you want a "standard" OS, install one. There are plenty of people doing just that (and plenty to choose from).
