I am looking for an app/software/addon that will allow me to play PLS files from sites like Reciva and other on-line radio stations. These are for streaming audio radio feeds.

I am also looking for the ability to play streaming audio. Reciva.com is my preferred internet radio source and only about 20% of the stations actually play after a long delay of up to 2 minutes.

I suspect the various stations use several different stream types and the media player included with Linpus does not recognize many of the file formats.

I will do some more searching and any further info would be appreciated

    Regards
    Tom

I've always been partial to Amarok. You can install it using pirut (Add/Remove Software). Once Amarok is installed you need to run this from a command line:

    Code:
    sudo yum install amarok-extras-nonfree

This will load the MP3 codecs which are not distributable under GPL.

Amarok has lots of nice features, such as a lyrics engine that'll fetch and display the lyrics to the song you are listening to.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi people, Linux novice here, Aspire One is my first Linux box.

I have installed Amarok by using the advance mode 'add remove software' repository.

Amarok installed and runs but gives me a warning that xine reports it cannot play MP3 files.

When I run the following in a terminal session

    $sudo yum install amarok-extras-nonfree

I get the folllowing error message:

    Setting up Install Process
    Parsing package install arguments
    No package amarok-extras-nonfree available.
    Nothing to do

Any thoughts on what I need to do to get MP3 support in Amarok?

    Thanks in advance

    RiK
