I was wondering if someone could advise.
My daughter has an acer aspire one happy net book.
Recently the screen developed a fault on the screen display. I sent it back to acer as it was within the 1 year warranty. They replied back stating I would be charged £100 to replace screen.
I decided they send it back and replace it myself to save myself money.

After replacing screen I charged the net book up which charged up ok
After attempting to switch on, the hdd blue display light appears on for about 10seconds and you can hear the cooling fan coming on for about the same time and then the net book switches off with no display present.
I've tried attempting the same with battery out and power cord in but to no avail.

I had no problem getting a screen display even though there was only half a display screen prior to sending it in to acer for repair.

Is this a motherboard or heating problem????

Question? Will it show the bios setting screen by pressing f2 immediately after pressing the
    on button.

Reasons for asking are, this will show you if the motherboard is working, and will also tell you
the state of the screen display and if thats fully working.

    Before looking further

    Thanks for the reply.
I tried hitting the F2 key upon start up but unfortunately the screen was still blank and the hdd led shuts down after a few seconds.
I tried this with the old screen which had half the display blank and also the new One.
I suspect the screen would be Ok if I could boot up the netbook.

Looking at the disassembly and replacement procedure the most troublesome
part is the ribbon connection which needs to be carefully refitted in line and the correct direction.

The old ribbon position is very important it has to fit tightly into the floating
socket. A rough indicator is the depression line on the ribbon it created when fitted at the factory.

Its unusual to have a secondary fault unless it has always been a motherboard problem and
    not a screen problem

Unsure as to your model number so placed this disassembly site link.
