My Acer gets me by on the road, but I'm starting to get a little BUMMED about the video performance (hulu, stored movies, etc) and thinking of pulling the plug. I don't think Intel will ever come up with a video driver that will stream video in a decent viewable mode. And I assume the main problem is the Atom processor.

Anyone got a recommendation about any netbook that does decent video? I'm even thinking of getting an iPad, but since Jobs has a hard*** for Flash, at this time, that's not the way to go. I realize for about $1000 or more, I can get a regular 3 pound plus laptop that will do decent video, but at the moment, that's above my netbook budget since my regular laptop is a 15" Apple MacBook Pro (too heavy and too big to pack around).

Looking at your configuration, you shouldn't be having any trouble at all with media stored on your hard drive. I don't have any, running XP on a much weaker machine, playing full .ISOs of DVDs via Daemon Tools, perfectly smooth. Streaming always depends on a lot of factors, some external to the PC itself. I'm not a big watcher of the little screen for long shows, but find YouTube, etc. watchable in Chrome browser. I've installed YouTube Enhancer plug in to limit how much I'm asking the little bugger to do.

UPDATE: re latest drivers - there was a new Atheros wi-fi driver at Windows Update site a week or two ago - under the "optional" hardware updates, and it doesn't show up on the desktop automatic update list. I'd advise checking that.

ok, now that i see you have windows 7 you should not have a issue at all with eny hd content. as long as you hAVE THE LATEST drivers on your system there should be no problem.
