I installed thunderbird via install applications. I wanted to put an icon on the desktop. Followed macles blog to put an icon on the desktop. Now have icon on desktop but it doesn't launch thunderbird. How can I link the icon to execute the programme?

    Hi sandkon,

Firstly are you using the original Acer desktop, if so please open your group.xml file and copy and paste here the relevant Thunderbird line you entered, as it could be a typing error.

If you are not using the original desktop then put the Icon in the trash and navigate here
/usr/share/applications then just drag the TB Icon onto the desktop.

    <app sequence="12">/usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop</app>
    In usr/share/applications/ no thunderbird logo.

    Hi sandkon,

The line looks OK except the number 12, choose a number between 1-9 that is not in use by another application then re save the file. You should now have the Icon on the desktop?
