I got the first one, which is from TPB. I'm not sure if I'm missing a driver or something for it in order to display a resolution greater than 800x600 though.

Ok, well I decided to go back to eee7 instead, and although it will expire in march, there should be a fix by then. I found it to run a lot faster with flashfire, even with aero, gadgets, and sticky notes all over the place. I had 1.5GB left on my 8GB SSD after the initial install.

I'm running Tiny7 on my old 110 with the slow SSD, and I am totally impressed. I installed the latest flashfire driver, and the performance is absolutley incredible, and the system is completely stable. I did miss having gadgets, however that was easily solved by installing Google Desktop. Total install size was less than 2GB. I do miss having Aero, so will be looking for a way to reinstall that portion.

To fix that. Get the VGA driver from the Acer support website, unzip it to a folder, but rather than run the setup.exe inside (this fails to execute saying that the operating system is not supported) go to the device manager and select the graphics adapter - this is installed as the default VGA one that Windows has which is why you cannot get other resolutions.
Open it up and click update driver, choose browse my computer for a driver and then point it at the folder you unzipped to earlier.
This should then update it giving you the correct resolution (following a reboot)

Ok, thanks to both of you that said I needed to install the VGA driver. It worked, but is there a way to make the aero theme work the way it should?

UPDATE: checked tiny7 again, rev01 is available and everything works from the start!

Simply right click on the desktop and go to Personalize. Then in your theme settings, simply select one of the Aero themes, and all of the Aero functions come back. Note, you will have to ensure that you have got the VGA driver installed first.

I also found the method to re-enable network browsing, and printing... not sure why those components were disabled because they seemed pretty critical to me. Also got Windows Media Player back into it as well with a couple regedits and what not. Let me know if people want the instructions for those services.

Here is the download link for WMP 11 and the registry edit to get it to work. I know that the link looks sketchy, but I can only say that it worked for me and doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Feel free to check my profile and you'll see that I've been around for awhile so I'm not trying to screw anyone.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?iaevtxyewxe

As for network support (LAN, internet works fine)... Open up services in administrative tools, located in side Control Panel. (Or Winkey+R and type services.msc then hit enter)

    Turn on the following.

    TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
    Security Accounts Manager
    Server
    Workstation
    Computer Browser
    Print Spooler

For those of you that haven't worked with services before, then right click on the name of the service, and go to properties. Change Startup Type from Disabled to Automatic and hit OK. Then right click on the service again and click on Start.

This has allowed me to get access to my network printers and network shares on my other machines. To be honest, I am having some problems accessing a shared external drive on my desktop, but not sure yet if that is a problem with the share, or with security on the desktop.
I also would suggest turning on the network icon in your start menu. Bring up the start menu, and right click, then click on the customize button in start menu. Then scroll down to find the Network item, and click the check box.
