Try CTRL- for less zoom and CTRL+ for more.

I'm guessing that you are accidentally hitting the "pinch" feature which is mapped to "zoom". Use control minus to undo the zoom at the keyboard. You can turn the pinch feature off in the synaptics driver if you don't use it (I don't). Left click on the synaptics touchpad thing in the tray, pick device settings, pick the settings tab, expand the "pointer motion" section in the tree, click on "pinch" and uncheck the box.

You are the man! I knew it was something like this but the manual had no info at all other than the basics. Is there somewhere I can download a complete manual other than what is on the aspire 1? Thank you for your help this was driving me crazy.

Enabling Momentum is nice as well. You have to get used to it though.
