I just received my new Acer Aspire One 0722-0825 and I can not get the touchpad to respond. Is there anything special that I have missed. I've used lots of laptops but this is my first Acer.

Have you seen System Settings -> Mouse and Touchpads -> Touchpads -> Disable while typing ? I've asked similar question few days back but it was just matter of unticking 'Disable while typing'. Given that you already checked in Settings you probably already looked this option but still in case you overlooked

Thanks for the reply. It turned out to be defective (it never worked, even when not typing) and they sent me a new machine the next day. That one works well.

    Hi Visio,

I have the same problem, however, mine had been working all along until yesterday, when I plugged in a USB mouse .. The computer popped up some kind of warning saying there seems to be a conflict between the synaptics PS/2 Port touchpad and the mouse. Then the touchpad no longer works.

I have even used the Acer e-recovery utility to restore the computer to the factory condition .. still it did not work. I then went to the internet to download the driver for synaptics touchpad and installed it. It still did not work .. Can you help ?

At least now the device manager says that the mouse is synaptics PS/2 Port touchpad. Before I did the e-recovery, it showed PS/2 compatible mouse.
