Oh thats retarded. Its clearly their fault or shipping carrirer. it doesnt even have to do with DIY !!!
Did you even take a video or pic while unwrapping it. If you did u should send it to them that it was their fault.
I understand of you dropped it or messed it up during installation then u should cover the shipping fees.
But if it came DOA Broken out of the box it is their responsibility to replace or the shipping currier.
Meh i guess i stay away from DealExtreme was thinking about getting things form there.
but hearing all there horrific stories.

 

Oh man .... this are bad news I´m reding about dealextreme.
I ordered my Wide 8.9" USB Touch Screen Film on 9/19/2008 and it was shipped the same day.
Still have not received it yet.
Its nearly 2 weeks now. Hopefully mine is not broken too.
I will definitly make a unboxing video.
I will let you know if I ever receive it.
I paid with paypal. Is it possible to demand the money back in case I do not receive it or its broken.
Isn`t the money secured throug paypal?

 

Did take a picture of the panel with the plastic film still on, but that was not enough for DealExtreme. They ship this kit with just an envelope and bubble plastic, no wonder they arrive cracked....

 

If you payed via CC in Paypal u can get it back via paypal or ur own CC company.
if paid via paypal money then depending on ur verification is ur chances.

 

Dealextreme usualy works well for me besides the fact everything gets squished.....which might hurt the touch screen just a little :roll:

 

Got another email from DealExtreme this weekend:"Considering you also suffered a great lost for the DOA product,we will resend you this item, but half of value ($30) needed to be covered by you."

Not sure if I should take the deal or not, two cracked screen are just as usefull as one...and it is not exactly a great deal :roll:

 

I wouldn't. I suggest you get your money back from your credit card company. Leave a review with resellerratings.com. And, don't deal with them ever again.

 

I would grab it take it as a fluke and check the screen over with a magnifying glass when you get it you have nothing to lose but a little time.....make them refund it all if the next one is cracked

 

With this mod, how does it effect actually looking at the screen, The normal screen is shiny and bright, does the touchscreen mod change this at all?

 

You should read around not hard but supposedly this is what he said but he was going on about it taking some of the shiny glare off and it was a little more readable just look around for more of an explaination

 

Is anyone able to say how does this mod affects battery life? Thanks

 

Hey guys,
I received my touchscreen kit from dealextreme. It appears that I'm missing the connector that adapts the flat ribbon cable from the touch panel to the ribbon cable from the controller. I've attached a picture as reference. I've emailed dealextreme about a replacement, but I was hoping someone here could post a picture of the missing connector, so that I might be able to find a local replacement without having to wait the 2-3 weeks for one to come from dealextreme. Can someone please take a picture of one for me? Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement? Sorry about the blurry pics, cellphone cam.

 

DealExtreme has shipped my Touchscreen Kit on 9/18/2008.
Finally, today I have received the Touchscreen, but it is cracked.
In the attachment you will see the pictures I made.

i dunno why u guys keep on getting it from dealxtreme if there's threads here about poor shipping packaging on here.

 

I agree. Dealextreme is crap and they do lot of problems with any warranty and refunds in case of problems like above. There is a lot of people complaining about level of service and delivery not only here on this forum but also on EeePC forum...

 

Look I ordered the Touchscreen Kit on 9/17/2008. First complains, in this thread, came in on 9/25/2008.
I can not look into the furure, but now I know.

I will keep you all updated how dealextreme and paypal are reacting.

Yesterday i got dialextreme package with broken touchsreen too!!
afterwhat i think i'ts a problem on my local postoffice.. but now i see - u have same problem? What i need to do now?
Money is not problem - problem is no chances to recieve touchscreen another way!
May be we need to build our together loyer proclamation or something?

secondarY: how i can to explore touchscreen controller without touchscreen device else?

I've actually ordered from dealextreme before with no problems. The discription on the touchscreen states that they are now adding extra packaging. Mine was actually packaged very well and there was no damage to the items. The touch panel was sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard and the whole thing was wrapped in about a pound of bubble wrap. It arrived in a padded envelope, they really should send these in a box though. I'm surprised to hear that so many of them have arrived damaged. Dealextreme has their own forum and I read the comments there before ordering and none of them stated that the screen was damaged.

 

Take a look.
Just a white envelope and red "air-bubble plastic bag" (sorry, I do not know the english word for it)
Plus a folded paperboard with a computergame hero on it.
