So I just installed my touchscreen today, and it works perfectly. It took 4 hours, although I was being very cautious. I ended up soldering the controller wires to the extra usb points under the motherboard and put the controller in the 3g slot.

Anyways now I face 2 problems. The first is that my screen looks terrible; I ordered a Fido touch screen, and it is extremely "grainy". I removed the 2 plastic screen protectors, but it is as if there is another one on the screen, as it doesn't feel hard but in fact "soft" to the touch, as if there is some flex in the top presumed touch-film layer. Do other people who ordered from Fido on Ebay have the same issue? Is there any way I can fix this ugly screen? Is this a defective screen where the touch layer has come off the hard glass?

Also my lcd bezel is unable to close at the very bottom. It closes very well all around with no bulge except for the bottom, has anyone else experienced this, and come up with a solution?

Well I followed lufcfan's guide, except that I soldered the controller wires to the extra usb port on the motherboard. Personally I don't think I can provide better photos than lufcfan did, nor will it really provide any more information. I also wired the TS controller wires through the right hinge and put the connector between the TS and the TS controller wires inside the right side of the bezel, as I had trouble trying to fit the connector in the right hinge.

I also tried to take a photo of the "grainy" screen but it doesn't really capture what I am trying to explain

can anyone tell me what the screen look like afterwards? I used to have an hp tx1000 before it got stolen and really the most annoying thing was that the screen was fuzzy because of the touch overlay.

    viewtopic.php?f=43&t=4236&p=28337&hilit=extra+usb+port#p28337

There is a photo in one of the post - the first one is not available only...

I never said you're stupid - you're just lazy... Guess where I found thread I put as an example....

OK - let me check again: SEARCH phrase: "extra usb"

search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&keywords=extra+usb&start=20 - third page on the bottom, forth page on the top, fifth page in the middle... That's proves you're just lazy... ;)

Besides I'm not aggressive. Check how many times I pointed all people like you in the right direction... Sorry I hurt your fillings...

    Hey guys,

On the LCD screen of the acer aspire one, there seems to be a thin film on it.

I was wondering if this was the anti-glare and could it be easily removed? (i.e. soak method)

The film has a bunch of scratches on it.

If anyone needs the touch panel only (no controller) let me know. I just got it from ebay and haven't used it yet. I think I broke my controller during install, so now I just have the glass panel. If anyone needs the glass only I'll sell it for $40. If interested PM me. I also have a spare aspire one LCD ready to go in the casing, as well as a standard battery and charger.

Hi I just got my Acer one today (A150 160GB)
And I want to do the TS mod, but I am stuck on which kit I should order.

There are 2 FIDO kit, one solder and one solder less:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/8-9-Eee-PC-900-901- ... 4#MRLOCATE
    http://cgi.ebay.com/8-9-SOLDERLESS-Eee- ... 286.c0.m14

And how is the Deal extreme kit? Has the packing become better?
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15611

The deal extreme goes for $56.79 and the FIDO solder US $68.95, solder less US $88.95 .

Any comment or recommendations are highly appreciated.

deal extreme = iffy packaging = higher chance of panel arriving cracked

you want the soldered one. less expensive. and the non-soldered one doesn't work specifically for your acer aspire one.

I saw that and I am going to try it out because it comes with a hub so i can solder on a GPS and Bluetooth Unit also. I will let everyone know how it goes when I get it.
