Track pad dead

    I recently did an install of xp on a linux one and the track pad does not work i have the synaptics drivers installed and system says device is working properly is this a hardware defect any ideas thoughts greatly appreciated

    Hi
    Have you tried a full reinstall? Mine seems to be dead after the updates of the last days. If i reinstall, all seems to be well again. But now it doesnt work (with updates) unless i put it a wireless mouse. Then after some three minutes, it lives again. It's a funny world... :|

    Isn't there a key that turns the trackpad on and off? Perhaps you accidentally turned it off...
