This is so trivial, I almost didn't post, but it's so successful that I felt I needed to share. The buttons below the trackpad on the new AA1 are better than the original design, flanking the trackpad, but they seem too far recessed. I had some surplus self-adhesive polyurethane film (used to protect a motorcycle headlight from flying stones), and cut a piece just the size of the trackpad button bar. It raises the buttons to a level that is about midway between the trackpad and the keyboard surround. The difference in feel is night and day. Scrounge around -- if you can find something the right thickness, this is a reversible mod that can totally change the way you interact with your AA1. The stuff I used is totally transparent, so only my thumbs know it is there.
