    Right now I am dual booting xp and osx and I am interested in installing windows 7 beta. Right now darwin is the bootloader and was wondering if I installed windows 7 would that screw up my dual/triple boot situation?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi everyone, i'm a noob in OSX on x86 systems but i wonder how u made a quadboot possible... i've had a triple boot on a MBP ans an Aspire One with the linux bootloader, and everything worked fine (except from the time, every switch from OSX to XP / 7 caused 2 hours more - minor issue)
    Could u please tell me the order u used to install everything??
    Like: OSX -> XP -> Linux -> 7 or 7 -> ... whatever

    Thanks in advance for any suggestions :p

    Linux doesnt have to be installed on an primary partition, so this leaves you with plenty of options.
    I dont know if Darwin supports booting from an extended partition, but windows certainly doesnt.
    * Create 3 primary partitions
    * Create 1 logical partition, with you choose how many extended partitions inside.
    You can use the extended partitions to install your Linux OSes.

    Use the first three partitions to install your favorite OS's XP/Vista/Seven/Darwin (just choose 3).
    Install linux on the extended partition, and install an nice bootloader such as GRUB or LILO.

    I always install Linux with GRUB first, so i can easily enable/disable/makeactive the other drives before installing ;)

    sorry for the delayed response.
    I installed OSX first using the disk manager in the installer to create 4 partions and then installed OSX using rory's guide. I put OSX on the second partition
    Next I installed Windows XP on the 1st partition. I used Tiny XP, it takes up very little space and runs quite fast.
    Third I installed Ubuntu on the third partion, be sure to put grub in the /root and not the mbr
    Last i installed windows 7 from inside of XP, choosing the 4th partion.

    After this is all done I used easy BCD to modify the windows 7 boot loader to include OSX and ubuntu.

    I might ceate a how to if there is enough interest.

    can you explain what you mean by putting grub in the /root, and not the mbr

    i may have said it incorrectly, when install ubuntu be sure to choose manual when setting up partitions and only create one partition, don't create a separate partition for grub

    btw you can use easy bcd on vista as well
