OK, I have never had this problem - after I got the dreaded black screen, no fan noise, start-up and click off problem - I have done everything - mashing the power button for 30 seconds, AC only, I have gotten the post screen a couple of times, got into bios - then that stopped working as well, after trying to boot up into safe mode in Win XP.

Finally I tried MACLES bios recovery, function/esc+power with a FAT formatted USB key, and 3309 bios, with the .fd name changed, the whole works. Followed the start-up to the letter, the power key started blinking then went solid green, the memory key stopped flashing - I let it sit for more that 5 minutes, and hit and held the power button and the machine *wouldn't* power down - the only way I could shut the thing off was to pull the battery and the AC from the machine.

NOW - I put the battery in and the battery light is red, I take the battery off, and hook up the AC and the battery light is red - power button doesn't work at all - am I now *totally* screwed? ANy suggestions, other than door stop?

I have made no mods, running XP Home, 1gb, 160gb.

I had a problem with mine going dead as well. The first two times flashing the bios worked. The last time the motherboard had to be replaced by ACER, which sucked cuz they deleted all my porno.
