    Hello,
I just installed Ubuntu 10.4 netbook on an Aspire One d150-1055
It was running XP but who wants that?

Everything works except the fan. it gets too hot to let it run after about 10 minutes. Fan worked fine in XP.
I can't hear it running at all now.

    kernel - 2.6.32-22-generic
    bios v1.05
It's the model with a 160Gb hard drive.

Are there step by step instructions somewhere on how to fix this? I don't want to reinstall XP.

    Thank you for any replies.

    ^^That.

The acerfan module aborts due to not compatible with that bios version. Says so in dmesg.

Which section here is the best place to ask advice on upgrading bios for this model? I can't afford to make it a brick so I better ask.

    thanks in advance.
