I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix on my aspire one netbook. I went to update manager to update the installation, it got as far as downloading 15 out of 24 updates then stopped for some reason then said cannot connect to the server even though i have a perfect internet connection. Also i cant play mp3 files as it says a plug-in is missing. I thought that ubuntu would have sorted out any mp3 issues by now, but is the updating a fault with my unit or a fault with ubuntu, any help would be appreciated.

Give it two days. There are no any updates apart from two not important files as 9.10 has been released yesterday...

That's because you missing restricted extras. Canonical policy of introducing only free software etc...

    try this in terminal:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
This should help. Will install flash, java and some necessary codecs for your system.
