ubuntu crashing to shell

    I currently have windows xp and iatkos osx(althouth not booting yet) installed on my computer and im trying to install ubuntu. i boot from usb and get the unetbootin menu, and i select "try ubuntu with no change" so i can get to the partition manager and it shows the ubuntu loading screen. then drops me to a shell

    BusyBox v.1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash)
    Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
