Problem here . . . can't get a flash drive to mount. I get the error "Invalid mount option while trying to mount the volume"

Oh, well, what's life without problems to solve :?:

Does it use LPIA repos or the regular 386 repos?

Go to etc/fstab and comment out the installation path for the USB CDROM. This is the line from my fstab:

    Code:
    # /dev/sdb1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0

it's a common problem after installation from flash drive.

Thanks for that, encaputxat. I gave it another try and wifi worked perfectly. :)

However, it is still my experience that Jaunty UNR 9.04 Alpha 6 is very sluggish in responsiveness on an SSD model. Let's hope it'll be fixed before the final release since there are a lot of SSD models out there I believe.

Last updates, and everything works again :D only my native language (Portuguese) is not...

I have to tell, Jaunty netbook remix is the best distro i have tried so far, everythings works without any tweaks and still is alpha...

Re: Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 is ready for test...

    A couple of things happened after a recent update . . . . .
    1) Flash videos (Youtube) don't work correctly. The sound plays, but the video does not. By moving the image on the screen via a scroll, the youtube video updates to a later frame that seems to match the sound at that time, but it does not contunue to play from that point.

    2) Up next to the battery level indicator, there is a grey rectangle that says "No Indicators". It was not there before. (See the screen capture at http://www.leaddogs.org/Screenshot-1.png )

    Ideas?

Hmmm . . . . . I'll figure out how to remove that, but now the "Administration" menu is missing from the desktop. I can still get to it by switching to the standard Ubuntu desktop where it's on the top menu bar, but what a pita.

If you are thinking of updating, I'd wait.

Re: Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 is ready for test...

UNR 9.04 daily build 21.3 works fine on my AAO1, 8GB SSD, 1.5GBRAM. A couple of days ago I installed the build from 19.3 and that didn't really recover from the updates. All in all it looks very promising. Btw. I am using ext2 for file system and the blacklist trick to get wireless working:

    One question:

I would like to installed the latest Wine from by following this guide: http://www.winehq.org/download/deb

Can I safely use the version for intrepid?

    Hey people

I tried to wait, for a whole 48 hours. I coud not!
I downloaded the iso, followed the approprite instructions to make my flash-drive bootable (from the ubuntu website, using flashnul).
When I try to boot my AAO from the flash-drive I get "Error 17"

    Any ideas chaps?

Add pciehp.pciehp_force=1 to kernel options and 9.04 begin mount all flash and SD-cards on the fly

Re: Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 is ready for test...

Open "menu.lst" in root mode and add the kernel boot options to the end of the first line starting with the keyword "kernel" -usually this is your default choice (if not, add to the one you which to change instead).

Ex.: enter in your console : >"sudo mousepad /boot/grub/menu.lst"

    Near the end of the file you find the entries for different kernels/OS's similar to;

    ## ## End Default Options ##

    title Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-11-generic
    uuid 1516bd90-5177-4948-aed1-dd100d46a7ef
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-11-generic root=UUID=1516bd90-5177-4948-aed1-dd100d46a7ef ro nohz=off quiet splash
    initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.27-11-generic
    quiet
    .....

    Edit the line starting with "kernel" to add your options. In this computer it would be;

    kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.27-11-generic root=UUID=1516bd90-5177-4948-aed1-dd100d46a7ef ro nohz=off quiet splash pciehp.pciehp_force=1

PS: I uses mousepad for editing as it comes with XFCE, but you may have gedit (Gnome), kedit (?, KDE), leafpad (LXDE) or any other.

Re: Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 is ready for test...

I would suggest making things a little more "permanent" by adding the line at the end of "# defoptions=quiet splash" to make it look like the following:
    Code:
    # defoptions=quiet splash pciehp.pciehp_force=1
Save and exit then run sudo update-grub in terminal. Now anytime a new kernel is updated/installed the code will be added automatically. If you don't add the code to the defoptions line then you will have to add the code to the end of each kernel in menu.lst whenever a new kernel is installed.

for my aspire one, which has 16 SSD, 1GB ram, I don't like using the ath5k wireless driver since my max connection speed is 1 to 5 Mpbs tops. If I use madwifi drivers, then I get either 48 or 54 Mpbs.
