    Hi

I have an Acer One 120GB, 1GB Ram BLUE and I'm looking for a better battery.

Is there a genuine OEM or 3rd party battery that will offer 6 - 8 hours with out being a massive lump on the back !!

Reading around the forum the 6 cell seems to be the one, can anyone point me to a UK seller.. any pictures of it fitted ??

    Thanks :)

I have this one from Amazon

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...mp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B001FRPUES

It gives me easily over 6 hours and doesn't look too bad really, but you are never going to get a 6 cell battery as slick as the 3 cell. Just general web browsing is up to 8 hours on a full charge. I have 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD in blue too, running XP Pro

Make sure you get the high capacity 6 cell.... mine is 6600mAh, some are only 4400mAh

If I get a chance I will try and post some pics.

This gives you an idea of what it's like (from another persons website)

Unless I am very much mistaken, your 6600mAH battery is actually a 9-cell.

6-cell batteries are either 4400mAH or 5200mAH, depending on whether they use individual 2200mAH or 2600mAH cells.

The AAO batteries supply 11.1V. They do this by connecting 3 x 3.7V cells in series. The basic 3-cell battery has 3 x 2200mAH cells.

Higher capacity batteries are created by connecting additional groups of 3-cells in parallel, the voltage remains at 11.1V but the current capacity is doubled or trebled accordingly.

    3-cell: 2200mAH
    6-cell: 4400mAH, 5200mAH
    9-cell: 6600mAH, 7800mAH

Battery run times are subjective of course, but 5 - 7 hours would seem to be realistic for a 5200mAH 6-cell battery.

Genuine ones are available for £70 - £80 in the UK. There are some 5200mAH ones going on eBay with world-wide shipping starting at 60 USD (£40?)

    Google for "aspire one 5200mAH site:uk" or "LC.BTP00.017 site:uk"

I reckon you are right, looking at mine again I can see there are too additional lumps compared to the standard battery :D

Wierd, I just assumed mine was 6 cell..... I read about 9 cell and thought "they must be massive", reckon mine is too, but I love it and would recommend it :)

PS, thanks for letting me know what I have actually purchased :D

There seems to be quite a few (misguided) vendors that are advertising 6600mAH batteries as "6-cell".

    Thanks for the replies.

Any benefit of the OEM battery over a 3rd party ??

Which would you think its the best one to go for ?
    Thanks

I reckon a "no-name" 6-cell shipped from one of the Chinese suppliers on eBay is going to cost at least £55 with shipping and currency conversion charges. Possibly a lot more if you get stung for VAT and import duty.

You may end up with something that is OEM-quality from one of the Chinese ebayers but there are an awful lot of horror stories circulating concerning cheap aftermarket batteries for other devices.

Best price for a UK-sourced OEM 5200mAH seems to be around £65. Personally, I would pay the extra £10 - £15 for the peace of mind.

My no-name 9 cell battery came from Amazon at just under £50.00 shipped from SuperGPS and I couldn't be happier :)

Check out the SuperGPS website for lots of Acer One batteries :)

That's good to know. Is there any manufacturer's name on the label at all, or does a manufacturer's name appear when the battery is inspected in something like BatteryInfo or PC Wizard 2008?

I have the same 6600mah battery from SuperGPS and it's very good, I havent ran it down yet but the meter in windows reports a good 7-8hrs on light usage.

To be honest I think the photos make it look bulkier than it actually is and I am more than happy with it.

    6 Cell Looks like this:

    Thanks for the pictures :)

What extra weight does the 6 or 9 cell add to the netbook ?

    Thanks

I haven't got any means of weighing mine, but I would say a 6 cell would be a little over double the 3 cell and 3 times for the 9 cell ;)
