Unable to boot...

Hi. In march, I got an acer aspire one, all was well except for its lack of space and lack of cdrom drive. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. About a month ago I tried to download ubuntu on to it, and well, from there everything hit the fan. I cannot load ubuntu due to a grub problem, and XP wont load because of autochk missing. I contacted acer support, and well, it was bloody awful, they did not help *at all*. I dont even think they understood what I was trying to say... bleh. Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I cant boot it or anything, its useless... anyone have any idea? Thanks..
