    Morning all,
Relative newbie to Linux, I'm having trouble getting an external webcam working in, preferably, the standard webcam application. I've installed Cheese, version 0.2.4, but that does not see the internal webcam let alone the external one.

Using lsusb I get the following output:

    Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 045e:00e1 Microsoft Corp.
    Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
    Bus 001 Device 008: ID 0402:5603 ALi Corp. USB 2.0 Q-tec Webcam 300
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 064e:d101 Acer Crystal Eye Webcam
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

So Linux appears to be recognising the Q-tec webcam. But nothing appears in any application.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

Would I have been better off putting this query in the Linux Software forum?
