Nice. Very sporting of you to help everyone out.

I kind of intend to make my own install, trimming off the excess and optimizing for better boot load times and a smaller footprint with nlite, but if I get lazy, I might just use this.

Did you use nlite to add the AAO drivers and the other extras? Did you pull the drivers off of Acer's website? or off your AAO?

Wow, thanks so much for this man.. It saved me from doing the nlite thing and searching for the drivers and all of that. All I had to do was download, run multiboot_10.. for my 1gb flash drive and away I went, it installed clean and fairly fast.. and everything was working right away.

I have the aspire 120gb with 1.5gb of ram.. great little thing now that I got xp running... Thanks a million man.

Can you elaborate how to use multiboot_10 to create a bootable recovery USB stick?

Thanks for this ISO. The only thing that ssems to be missing is the Acer Launch utility. Other than that, everything works great!

Sorry if this is a dumb questions, but my A150 is going to have Linux when it arrives, but I want to put XP on it. I have a legit copy of XP Home complete with key from a scrapped PC, am I ok to use the key I have with the recovery image you have created even though the Acer didn't have XP on it originally?

    Many thanks

I'm certain these were once good, working links, but they don't seem to work well now. Trying to do it directly on cable modem I get such a slow dl speeed that it would be quicker to go to the store and buy a new copy of Winders. The Humyo link is dead as a doornail. I don't know about the Rapidshare stuff.

Anyway, thanks for the major effort and good luck to all who got it. Would especially like to hear about results of a USB install, if anyone has accomplished it.

Also, if someone could tell me what wizardry you used to download this successfully in a reasonable period of time, well, I'd certainly appreciate it.

I even paid money to rapidshare in an effort get that HIGH SPEED download, which turned out to be 100Kbs. Glad I only paid for three days.

first post here and i would just like to say a big thank you to the original poster.

my aao arrived in the post today (120GB/512MB/linux) and it already has 1.5GB and windows xp on it - thanks to this thread

I had problems installing xp from my xp home cd (bsod problems as reported by others) so tried this image and put in a spare coa key (my brother breaks laptops for spares so has lots!) and it all works a treat.

I can sell on my eeepc 701 4g now that I have my aao all up and running fine :)

great forum this, im looking forward to contributing :)

    thanks,

    malty

read the first post buddy, this is only for people who have a unit that came with xp, but i guess if you search hard enough you will find one/google (wich will be banned fast by ms, meaning no updates)

Awesome. I am glad I kept this link saved on my other computer. I deleted the partitions for Ubuntu to try an install of Mac OSX and when booting back up I came across GRUB error 22. Apparently Ubuntu messes with the MBR (not a complaint, but it is what it is) so I need to reset it.

This is downloading at 200kb/s on average, so i will have my AAO back up in no time.

For those looking for a way to install this on a USB drive:
