    Hi!

I'm using Kubuntu, and I was thinking of trying out UNR. I followed the instructions, but I cannot see any difference (except the effect of maximus, which maximises a few windows)... I guess because unr was designed for gnome.

Any hints how can I use it? should I install the gnome desktop as well?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes install gnome, UNR is just an overlay which sits on top of gnome

I did that, now I have both the gnome and the kubuntu dekstops. When I choose gnome (what I do nowadays), I do get the netbook launcher.
I just have a few problems with it:

    1) nautilus-desktop (I guess the standard gnome desktop) is still running. Can I disable it somehow? I cannot use it, so while run it.
    2) I still prefer the kde desktop (although nowadays I'm hesitating), so I wonder if it would be possible to run the netbook launcher from kde.

I'll try to experiment with the above as well. Nowadays I started to look at powertop and powerconsumption, and I'm thinking of trying out an even lighter desktop (like icewm).
