I have just purchased an Aspire One 532 from John Lewis. Then I found a free and easy way of upgrading the various Windows 7 apps. Go to McDonalds and set up an account with The Cloud (free). Connect and then wait until all upgrades to Windows 7 are complete. About 33 APPS - and it took about 30 minutes. CJB.

Additonally this is useful for downloading apps such as Skype, Media Player (classic) and VLC. The latter two for watching videos (VOB files) pre-loaded onto USB flash drives. CJB.

I run up to a local restarurant that offer's free internet. I order some ham and eggs, eat breakfast while my netbook is updating. Anytime I have some large files - I run up for ham and eggs!

I would love to just do it at home but can't get cable or DSL so I have a Verizon AirCard. Unfortunately, it is capped at 5GB. My local restaurant has no cap and it is much faster.

Great tip. I believe McD will soon offer free wifi at all outlets. Sure beats Starbucks...well except the coffee isn't as good!

Why not just do it at home, the hotel, the office, your favorite coffee place, or anywhere else where there is internet :?:

    I don't get it

I don't have fixed line broadband at home - only via a dial-up 3 dongle. And my alloawance is only 5Gb a month for £15. I am retired so don't work in an office. My fav. coffee place(s) / bars doesn't do wifi Internet - in London everyone charges for access via The Cloud (and other ISPs). But McD's does offer free wifi. And some downloads are very large. CJB.
