    Hi,

I followed all the instructions and now an error window flashes briefly on the screen when I try and play anything and mplayer has stopped working - I cannot even start it manually :?:

No need to follow that complicated procedure. Livna has rpms which will add all the easily codecs via yum. Just go to the terminal, and add the livna repositories (if you've installed vlc you've already done it and can skip this step):

    Code:
    rpm -ivh [url]http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm[/url]
Then you just tell yum to update mplayer to livna's version:

    Code:
    sudo yum update mplayer
You'll probably want a better user interface to mplayer than Acer's Media Master, so I suggest you install SMPlayer too:

    Code:
    sudo yum install smplayer

    Thank you BlackLagoon
Finally I can play my mediafiles with mplayer.
And smplayer was a great suggestion, I love it

I don't know if this will happen to everyone.
But when I ran sudo yum update mplayer, I suddenly found that none of my video files would open with a double click.
I was able to open using "mplayer filename". Opening the add/remove applications I found that is looks like mplayer-gui (From memory, maybe wrong) was not checked and needed to be added. After adding the mplayer-gui , which matched the version of mplayer, then all was good. Thanks for the tip.

Anyone know how to get rid of the on screen display when watching video in full screen? I thought I have try changing ever preference setting, but still it shows. Maybe I need to close and re-open mplayer?
