    Has anyone done so yet?

I have a 1GB 120GB HDD XP model and I installed Vista on it, it runs great but every so often freezes up [maybe once per day] I have bought a 1GB Kingston Ram that I saw a lot of the users here recommended in the 'what works' thread. So will this bad boy be a 2Gb when I'm done or will it be a case of removing a 512mb and replacing it with the 1GB?

    Thanks in advance - ...BeAkEr...

According to the pictures I have seen there is only one slot, so I would assume that there is already a 1gb stick in there. I could be wrong.
I want to know as well, as I have a 2gb stick of laptop ram laying around, and I would like to hook it in there.

When you upgrade a 1GB model you first remove the 512MB chip and replace it with your 1GB chip, that gives a total of 1,5GB.

To save RAM in Vista or XP use Minimem (http://minimem.kerkia.net), my A150 with a vLited Vista Ultimate with Aero, AVG Free, COMODO Firewall, AA1 Fan Control and Firefox 3 running uses only 520MB of RAM! No need for memory upgrade for me.

Thanks I guessed that would be the case, the 512 I take out will go back in the wifes eeepc so its all good :)

I am running a vlited copy of ultimate as well, I just like to push the little netbook to the limit and am a modding freak ;)

I was contemplating taking the 320GB out of my PS3 and trying that in here, just gotta find the original one from the PS3 to back it up, I think I put it in a caddy around here somewhere...

I just want to confirm as I am thinking about doing it too, the 1gb version already has another 512 stick in the second ram slot?

BTW, wouldn't adding a 7200rpm hdd add a lot of extra unnecessary heat?

yes 512mb in each side so the maximum ram is 1.5gb as one side is soldered and unremovable

yeah I guess a 7200rpm drive would get pretty warm and use more power, I guess they need to draw the line somewhere
