Hi I have 8.9 inch acer aspire one ZG5,

I have just upgraded to 9.10 Karmic and I have come across one problem so far: I have an external monitor 15 inch NEC AccuSync LCD montior attached. It was working with 9.04 Jaunty perfectly but now that I have upgraded I can't use it as the main display and worse yet when I select resolution 1024 x 768 (4:3) it causes some kind of error (Please see 3.png) I can only select 800 x 600 (4:3) and below.

Just guessing here, so please don't be too upset if this doesn't work. Rename /etc/X11/xorg.conf to something else and reboot; then reset your display. Obviously, if you don't have an existing xorg.conf file, this isn't going to help.

Please can you drop those stupid "bumps"? If you have nothing to say, just don't.

Anyway, if you read /etx/X11/xorg.conf, you will see that it can be reconfigured by typing:
    Code:
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
This should rename your existing /etx/X11/xorg.conf and create a new one.

This is my thread and I feel like bumping.

And thanks for your suggestions but when I type that in terminal nothing happens when I go to the directory /etc/X11 there is no xorg.conf before or after typing what you suggested...

    so... BUMP!

Are you not aware that Karmic Kola has no xorg.conf at all?

    Regarding xorg.conf:
From a console session (not a terminal window), as root:
Xorg -configure to generate an xorg.conf file
Xorg -config /root/xorg.conf.new to test X with the new xorg.conf file
mv /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf if the xorg.conf file works for you
