USB Mouse

    If I plug in a USB Mouse does it get mounted?
    Do I have to unmount it before I unplug it?

    I know this is a dumb question, but I don't know.

    A USB mouse will get what is known as hotplugged and are useable as soon as they are plugged in. It does not get mounted. Only file systems get mounted. You can unplug the mouse at any time without notifying the system.
