following a massive software upload to enable me to get daughters messenger working again. I now find that when attempting to use the usb ports i get the message that they have failed to mount. The exact message being:

    "org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable no <-- (action, result)."

I have tried the editing of xfcepost as described elsewhere i.e. adding the line to killall Thunar. All this did was make the machine go through the start routine twice and then give me a message about not starting hal or something. As working usbs are pretty important any help to get them up and running is appreciated.

    thanks
