usb recovery wont work

    I have purchased a usb stick with a system recovery of linux on it. i went through all the intruction and then it would go through till the bit when when doing the recovery then it is says there has been error with the programme. you ask you to abort it when you press ok it tries load up and then i get black screen with L99 99 99 99 on all the up to half of the screen - please help it dont apperas the usb thign has worked but I need help asap.
