USB SE P1i to internet- wvdial does not detect! - (SOLVED)

    I am trying to connect internet with SE Pi1 via USB.
    I installed wvdial and gnome-ppp to AA1-Linpus.
    When I connect the USB(P1i), AA1 does not detect it as USB ACM device.
    wvdial is supposed to create /dev/ACM1 or so, but no luck.

    I checked the log by dmseg, it shows
    "new full speed usb device using uhci-hcd and address5"

    I tried to find a solution over internet but they say P1i should be detected the same way as p990i in Linux.

    Does anyone know how to connect P1i to AA1-Linpus via USB?

    From /boot/config... :
    So you need that module to be compiled.

    The module should do that, wvdial uses it.

    Can you kindly advise how to compile it for P1i?
    I couldn't figure out.

    3 options:

    1. do it yourself, depending on your capabilities/experience :

    2. somebody jumps in here and says here is it ( cdc-acm.ko ).

    3. I start working on this, but it will take some time.

    Sounds like you could try to install the kernel modules from this thread. You can either run the full script, or just the part on the kernel modules.

    Please post your results; I too have a P1 and would like to use it in future with my AAO.

    That might be a good idea, it does indeed provide the needed module.

    Now I have tested with above cdc-acm.ko and WORKED for P1i!!! :D :)
    Gnome-ppp device scan picked up the device and I could jump into the Net.
    Its connection speed is slow but fast enough to use Thunderbird.

    ps. If someone wants to use a USB Bluetooth dongle to connect P1i, above setting is prerequisite.
