    Hi,

I've used the recovery CD to create a live usb stick to restore my comp to default. Did this with a kingston datatravel 4gb.
This time though when I tried(restarted comp, booted up from usb), the aspire one screen shows up.
But when I'm suppose to push Next->, nothing happens, it freezes.

Gotta restore linpus now, cause all I get when I turn it on is a black screen with a toolbar with no icons on it.
    Anyone know why it freezes?
I've tried recreating the usb drive several times.

The same thing is happening to me, so I hope someone answers this...
I am using a 4gb memory stick- i think the brand is PNY. I have tried using it in all of the different USB ports (recommended in another post) and still, no dice.

My recovery session froze when I had a USB hard drive plugged into the AAO, but was fine after I rebooted and unplugged it. I hope it's something that simple for you three. Maybe try taking out all USB devices, media cards and whatnot.

Yeah, it's fine when you remove the USB stick. But that means you can't recover it.

I HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

It may seem silly, but the Aspire one does not like certain USB sticks, and they will cause it to hang. So, try another USB stick. I found a Sandisk Cruzer 4GB stick worked for me, you might want to try that. It's a pretty common and cheap model.

Yep, a Cruzer 8GB worked for me too.

Does anyone know any good Windows Software for imaging the USB stick to a file, for future reference?
