    Hi,

I recently purchased an Aspire One netbook for travel. I'm hoping to use it with a small, portable HP Deskjet 340 printer. Because the printer is an older model, it has a parallel instead of USB port. So, I purchased a Parallel-to-USB printer cable.

When I connect the printer to the Aspire and turn the printer on, the printer head does go through some motions; so I know the two devices are communicating at some level.

However, Windows XP doesn't recognize the printer or install the drivers. (On another XP computer that does have a parallel port, the printer was recognized and the drivers installed, and the printer worked fine.)

Any suggestions? Has anyone successfully used a parallel-to-USB printer cable to make a parallel-port printer work with the Aspire One?

    Thanks,
    Bill
