Using Acer Aspire One to Charge MP3 Player

Just purchased my new Aspire One and have tried unsuccessfully to charge two different MP3 players through the USB ports. Unit was connected to AC power and was on while attempting to charge the MP3 players. It initially looked like the units were going to charge, but after about 20-30 seconds, the charge terminated. I've tried it several times, always with the same results. Do I have a computer problem, software problem, or is this something the Aspire won't do? Appreciate any help someone may be able to offer! Thanks!
