Has anyone tried using the mbr to boot from the left card reader in xp? I have it showing up as a scsi drive as well as a card reader so i was thinking if it were possible to edit the boot.ini to make the ntldr beleive that its booting onto a scsi drive even though bios doesnt support it?

It's not possible unless you load the PCI-e card reader drivers before loading the OS. Since the card readers are not usb based, it needs drivers in order for it to function.

You can install grub to the mbr and somehow make the card reader to work before boot, at least that's what some people said.

ive played around with grub a bit and it was giving me alot of trouble, im not much of a linux user, im all about windows (hence the forum >_>) but im just gonna swap out the ssd for an ipod hdd that uses the zif connector, tnkgrl did something similar (see homepage article about eSATA port to find out about tnkgrl) so we'll see how that pans out, thank for the help though, i might try to do it anyway just for the sake of doing the "impossible"
