I have my AA1 at work and have hooked up the VGA out to a monitor. Cathode type. I am only on batery power (left the cord at home) and the vga doesn't work.

Does the VGA work on battery power?

    Thanks

External video does work when battery powered, so the hardware is ok with it.
I've personally done this with my AAO 110 running ubuntu, so if it's not working for you, it's likely a software issue (or a problem with your monitor, try another one)

Interestingly when I went to a newer monitor i could get the desktop to display. but not get the monitor to relect the active AA0 screen.

Am I suppose to set something in the display settings? When I tell it to show the desktop it does, but no more.

    Thanks

    Ok I have it now.

You have to go into the display advanced settings then access the intel settings directly. From there you can adjust for dual monitors.
