Does the graphics chipset support TV-out using a VGA-S video cable? I know some cards/laptops support this using a $5 cable instead of a fancy converter.

That's a pity :( Using a simple cable-converter (light and cheap) it would have been possible to quickly transform the One in a small portable movies/photos viewer on any TV.

Maplins do a VGA to TV converter - item # A30AU for £40. Looks like a small dongle with cables out each end.
Never seen one in real life so can't comment on it. You'll also need a audio lead.

I've just ordered a VGA to converter box from ebay. £20, from Hong Kong. Probably a load of crap but I'll let you all know how I get on with it.

I think they missed a trick not putting TV-Out capability on this great little gadget.

Yes!! I received it at the weekend and tried it out straight away (much to the annoyance of my wife as I was meant to be painting the hallway).

It works! Pretty damn well as it happens! Really crisp s-video output and, as you would expect, slightly blurry coposite video.

Here's the same one as I got - mine only cost me £18.99 inclusing p&p though - you have to look about on ebay.

Here's my only gripes which I'm sure are software problems and therefore fixable (and testable before buying one of these converters)

    1. I can't close the lid when as it switches off the Acer.
    2. Playing ZNSES (mario kart - hee hee) appears to be not as smooth as through the LCD - this is annoying.
    3. The VGA-VGA cable is unnecesarily long, so I've ordered a VGA gender changer so the unit can plug directly into the Acer (£0.99 off ebay!)

    Good luck folks!
