video performance

hi i'm using linux4one 1.1 (ubuntu derivative) and recently i've tried to watch a movie in .wmv, 1280x720 px with vlc and it was lagging terribly so i couldnt watch it. but as far as i remember, i had no problems with it on linpus linux. can anyone test playback of hd video and tell my if they have poor performance too? free, legal, small samples of movies in 720p can be downloaded here: [URL]http://www.hd-trailers.net/[/URL] thanks in advance a.
