Vista software help

right now my acer aspire one is showing.. Found New Hardware - Base System Device I can't seem to find the software to install it and it says install the disc it came with.. which i don't have.. what are my options? vista can't find the software automatically for me. edit: i also can't save files/download stuff to my desktop.. it downloads then disappears..
