    Oh... hai!

No issues, what resolution are you setting in VMWare for the machine?

Actually, I just uninstalled it because I'm only running 1G of RAM and it seems to retard the start up speed of the computer with all the background processes it runs (do you also experience the same?). So, from memory, I did: Start -> Control Panal -> Display -> Settings and slid the screen resolution 1 notch and then 2 notches to the right (in the client OS that is). Both times the aspect ratio got even worse.

When I've got more RAM and VMWare reinstalled I'll be able to give more details.

It is kinda slow but I only use it for very minute purposes so I don't need it for anything intensive (256MB is actually fine for allocation).

I leave it at 800x600 and do full screen since the AAO is limited in resolution, it works out fine.

Ok, so now there's 1.5G of RAM in my aa1, and I've reinstalled VMWare. It does seem to allow it to run a little more smoothly, however, when I try to stretch the resolution across the screen to make the virtual machine look like it's running as host, I get that strange warped, flattening effect. Oh well, no big deal compared to this: VMWare seems to interfere with the opperation of other programs, and when I uninstalled it the 1st time, those programs came right again. So... given that I don't have this problem on my DeskTop when running VMWare, I wonder if it's the fact that the aa1 uses the Atom and perhaps VMWare doesn't play nice (yet) with it? Looks like I'm keeping it off for now though.

BTW - may I ask? What do you used VMWare on your aa1 for?

    Image creation for mass deployment.
I also use it to test new software packages (installations, changes it makes to registry/OS).
No issues with any of my apps after installing VMWare. What apps are having problems?

The problem apps were: QQ (it's like an asian version of MSN messenger) and Citrus (alarm clock). Also, I have set my power options to always boot down into Hibernate mode as I find it makes startup quicker. But with VMWare, there was often problems. The system seemed to hang when I was going into hibernate mode if I had VMWare installed.

But I don't mean to run VM Ware into the ground, VM Ware is GREAT. It's very useful for all of the things you mentioned, It's just unfortunate that I can't get it to play nice. Admittedly, it could well be a user fault!

is this the stock XP Acer installation?
I'll be honest, I haven't seen nor used those apps before.
    Hibernation is no problem however.

I assume you installed the VMware tools on the guest machine, giving it better graphics performance? (which should let you set a 1024x600 resolution)

Yes, I've installed that, however, when I try to go full screen, I get a message saying that the resolution is not supported in full screen mode. I think this is something that I'd better sort out by contacting the makers of VMWare but thanks to everyone who replied.
