This new one isn't working for me... The speakers and the mic aren't working. On top of that, once I rebooted after installing it, my computer seems to become unresponsive after the desktop loads for a minute or two. The mouse still moves around, but any clicks and the dock don't happen right away until things start moving at normal speed.

I have never tried a voodoohda kext... should I?

First of all my friend, i've running this kext on my Acer ZG5 & 10.6.2 pretty stable without problem.
Have you delete first AppleHDA from System/Library/Extension and after install this one?
Have you DSDT.aml on your system?( Bios 3309 or 3310)
    VoodooHDA isn't best solution.
Look here my Greek guide install on my mini http://www.infinitemac.com/f83/917-955- ... 959-t4873/

    Sorry for my bad English.

I went ahead and removed the old kext and reinstalled the last one that you posted. Unless you wanted me to remove the old one and reboot before reinstalling it with kext helper, I'm not sure what else there is to do... I still don't have any audio, (in fact, the sound system preference pane does not list any input/output devices,) and there is still a disturbing period of unresponsiveness when I boot.

I have a ZG5 Acer and the 3309 Bios version. I just upgraded to 10.6.2 using the netbookmaker and netbookinstaller method. I'm worried that the fact that I was running 10.5.X before and did an upgrade rather than a clean install may be hindering me, but my system is very stable otherwise and I'd rather find a solution instead of having to reinstall everything.
    Thanks

    Just to be noted,

in general it's not good to upgrade h4ckintoshes but to re-install'em!

Thanks, but I didn't notice a change when I installed it. Uninstalling it, however, fixed the weird unresponsiveness at boot. Nothing seems to add "built-in" to the audio devices, and I just noticed that I am having trouble mounting USB drives and SD cards. I'm going to go ahead and do a clean install. It won't be too bad since I made backups of everything important before the upgrade anyway. Wish me luck, I'll try again after I get everything reinstalled.

a150 ZG5 with bios 3309 here. i followed the NBI guide, updated with software update (all updates) and installed the kext in the first post of this thread and my sound works. internal mic does not work, but external mic does! i tested by recording a video in photobooth. note, my input choices include microphone (CD) and microphone (pink).

note: i deleted AppleHDA.kext from S/L/E (after copying it to the desktop just in case), installed the voodooHDA.kext from this thread with kext helper b7, and for good measure i did the following in terminal: sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
after reboot i'm good to go.
