    Hello,

I recently saw a AAO at my local Walmart for $369.96, it is AOA150-1745.
I believe it is a 160GB HD, 1 GB ram, Windows version in Blue.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal or not? I cannot find the model number anywhere online (AOA150-1745).

    Thanks in advance

That is one thing that I did not check when I was looking at it.

I will assume that if it is a 3 cell it is a "normal" price.
and if it is a 6 cell it is a better price?

    Thanks

Edit: the $369.96 is in Canadian dollars.

I went back to Walmart and checked again.

It is the 3 cell unit with 160 GB HD 1 GB ram.
    $369.96 CND.

I was hoping for the 6 cell , but no luck.

Still, is it a good deal?

I downloaded the product matrix PDF from Acer Canada's website yesterday, trying to get a handle on the different model numbers, configurations, and list prices. The -1745 isn't listed. I see model numbers listed on Canada Computers website that aren't in Acer's list either; I am starting to get confused.
According to the list I have (from Acer!), there is no model AOA150-1745, nor is there a model with 1GB, 160GB HDD, XP, 3 cell battery, and in blue. Clearly it exists, but why isn't it on Acer's catalog?
Acer lists a AOA150-1001, with 1GB, 160GB HDD, 6 cell battery, in blue, list CDN$429.
Can anyone explain the model number discrepancies? I can't even correlate the models I am finding with the US part numbers.

Here's a link to Walmart Canada's page listing the Acer Aspire One. I'll tell you why in a sec.

    http://www.walmart.ca/wms/microsite/com ... ge=laptops

I went to Walmart (actually, three of the Walmarts in Edmonton) and they were all sold out. Then I realized that Best Buy will price match any advertised price. So I went to Best Buy and they said they would beat the price so long as it was in a flyer or on their website. So, after searching Walmart's crappy website for far too long, I came across this page. And although the model numbers don't match up, the specs are EXACTLY the same and Best Buy beat the price by another 10 percent. Taxes (and Environmental fee...stupid...) included, it cost $390. It's about $420 without price matching.

As for the weird model numbers, I have a theory. Each supplier (Walmart, Best Buy, Future Shop) is each given their own unique model number for each netbook. So, if you were to call up Acer and say "My AOA150-1575 is acting up!", POW! They know it was bought at Walmart. Just a theory. lol

You actually got BB to price match?
Every time I try (there or Future Shop) I get the runaround, even when I sic my wife on them.
I usually go to Staples, they'll price match from a website; I once got them to price match Apple's .Mac software against Amazon's price (almost $30 less).

Maybe it depends on the specific Best Buy. I shop on the west side of Edmonton and they've price matched Microsoft One software, video games and even movie box sets for me. And now a netbook. It's the Future Shop on the west side that doesn't like to price match so they no longer get my business.

If you are in Ontario, buy at Canada Computers - they have the best prices and good selection of models.

Bought mine (same specs, blue, 3 cell) at Staples in Toronto back in October for C$380, and given that the U$ has climbed against the C$ since then and inventories have been bought at the higher exchange rate, it's a pretty good deal. However, I'd get a 6-cell battery to do over (everything else, I'm very happy with.) Re matching prices, in my experience it's no go if the item is already sold out at the lower-priced vendor. However, some staff are empowered to haggle a little.
