I'm looking for miniPCIe header/socket for 3G mod. I found 5.9mm but it's to low. In most of the components shops I did not seen anything higher then 5.9mm unfortunately. If any of you have some extra socket I would be very pleased to buy one of you.

I can give you the email contact for Attend in Germany which has the 9.2mm high connector. I got four at a total cost of $25.00 each, not a great deal.

Molex is sending me samples of the new part number they have for a 9.0 mm high mini PCI-e connector "48338-0090".

Molex did come through with Sim reader samples, so I have both Proconn and Molex Sim Readers.

    Thanks.

I'll be definitely interested in this e-mail address for German "seller". In terms of SIM card holder I wasn't thinking about this as I'm planning to buy modem with SIM card build in...: http://www.mobilx.hu/index.php?target=p ... 6381&sl=EN It it not DEFINITE choice as this modem is a bit expensive so I can consider using SIM card holder and Sierra Wireless or Globetrotter modems with external SIM card slot...

BUT. If you can give me full link to this part in any eShop I'll be pleased... I have some funny problems looking for specified part number in any shop - always showing no results...

Sim holder on Mini PCI-e card adds thickness.

If you add 3G with the 9.2 or 9.0mm connector there is not any space for the sim reader on the mini PCI-e card.

If you use a 5.9mm high connector you will have to remove the 3G card holder shelf in the lower case and reinstall .075 higher, but then the sim reader on the 3G card may fit. Your choice.

PM me for the email addresses.

I was thinking about this. But I never got any definite information regarding 5.9mm and the way of making right installation to fit modem. I was about to buy some 5.9mm headers just to try if they fit alongside with modem and do not catch plastic modem tray so everything can be installed w/o any cuts... If I can only be sure modem will fit 5.9mm connector w/o problems I would definitely go for it...

I have one MC8781 Sierra wireless modem installed on a 5.9 mini PCI-e connector, I could post pictures, but you have to remove half the shelf and relocate it up .075 of an inch. A lot of cuts and plastic cement.

I can remove this shelf - no probs with this. All I need to know is that screws for miniPCI board will still fit w/o pressure and are not going to bend modem itself or do any other damage...

aaa.... Probably I know what you mean... This shelf must be completely cut , and put/move closer to mobo...

Yes, you can not completely remove the shelf because there are three screws which need to use the shelf. Motherboard, 3G card and daughter board.
