Warzone 2100 freezes

Model A0A110, Linpus/SSD.

Warzone freezes when tries to play sound. If sound volume in the game is set to zero - all seems to be fine.
Didn`t make any modifications to sound system. I have sound in other games/messenger.
What should I do?

 

Update:
In Process Monitor Process status is "Sleeping" but it consumes 50% of CPU.

 

Solved by compiling the last version from sources.

 

Ok I would also like to get this working but being a bit of a linux thicky can you please give a step by step how to guide.

 

I'm also a bit of a Linux virgin, any update on this?

 

Sorry, i don`t remember exact names of packages you will need.
Here`s how i did:

1. Downloaded archived sources from http://wz2100.net/download
2. Extracted all files
3. Read installation docs from archive
4. Tried to follow steps
5. Read error about missing packages
6. Looked for/installed missing packages
7. Jump to step 4 until it compiles

There is no special config needed. Just some packages and compiler(gcc). All packages needed can be found through System->Add/Remove Software. Take into consideration that usually you will need packages marked as '-devel'. Just be attentive!

have problems with textures on aspire one (l110)/kubuntu 8.10/ram 1,5 gb...

warzone2100 installed fine from ubuntu reps, starts ok but "loses" most textures after 1 sec: only tanks remain textures while the terrain is black. anyone with a solution?
