    Hi,

A search on this topic reveals many asking but no answers

My webcam fails to work but it did when I first had the machine (1 week ago). I'm running the supplied Linpus but I have installed most of the macles upgrades including VLC. It seems this is a common problem for foum users with no answers so far.

My webcam fails to give a picture but 'lsusb' in a terminal window says its on the USB bus.

'lsmod' revealed the following relevant modules:-
    uvcvideo 39752 0
    compat_ioctl32 640 1 uvcvideo
    videodev 20928 1 uvcvideo
    v4l1_compat 10500 2 uvcvideo,videodev
    v4l2_common 10688 2 uvcvideo,videodev

My guess is that something has been over-written but I am not proficient enough under the hood to explore further. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Blessed are those that can solve their own problems... I think...

The 'solution is a setting under right-mouse click.. settings...window manager tweaks... compositor tab... then unselect 'use compositor settings'. It all comes back after effects like 'transparent windows on moving' are all turned off. For good measure I had turned back off most of the CompizConfig settings manager too. Poor old Acer one probabaly gets confused if we ask it to do too much with its limited graphics ability.

    Happy days!
