I have installed Windows 7 and my webcam is not working either. I have tried many Acer drivers for other laptops to no avail. If anyone knows a driver that will work it would be much appreciated. (Model aOa150).

I don't look at this forum too often, but I had this problem when running Windows 7 Beta and RC, and the following worked for me, both then and after upgrading to the retail version. I first of all downloaded the driver from http://www.netbookfiles.com/2588/acer-a ... er-v58331/ and installed that. I found that I had to force Windows to install it (i.e. by preventing it from searching through Windows Update) because it kept telling me that the installed driver (Sonix) was the most up to date. Having done that, I then downloaded the Bison camera utility from http://www.mediafire.com/?lenpymofot0 and installed that, and hey presto, it worked.

    Your computer = ???

I've tried Windows 7 RC on my AOA110 and the webcam worked fine out of the box.

I presume shurcool's question is directed at me, in which case the answer is an AOA150.

Firstly thanks to richclark for his response. Can I ask whether win 7 detected your webcam and is this how you were able to install the driver? In my case the webcam is not detected at all and installation of the driver by executing the install.exe does not have any effect. Is there a way to force recognition of the webcam or to force a driver install via windows 7 rather than directly from the driver's own install.exe?

No, it was directed at the OP.

He said "I just put Windows 7 onto my computer and the webcam isn't working. how do you fix it?"

How are we supposed to help him if he didn't even tell us what computer he has?

I got my webcam working. Here's how: I uninstalled everything associated with acer crystal eye webcam and re-started. I noticed that win 7 had installed a "usb video device" in device manager "system devices". I had not previously looked here as I had not expected the webcam to appear here. I selected this device and proceeded with "update driver". When given the choice of automatic install of driver or to manually select the driver I manually pointed to the driver mentioned by richclark. (which I had previously saved on the desktop). Hey presto the webcam now appeared in device manager under imaging devices and is working. Strangely the webcam utility program mentioned by richclark wouldnt work. Anyway hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
