I'm curious to know the weight difference between the SSD model and the HDD one.
All I know is the SSD weights about 1 kg.

Interesting note, that the 120gb hard drive model will be a tiny bit larger than the SSD version.
“The Aspire One 110L with SSD weighs with 3-cell battery is 968 grams and 24.9 x 17 x 2.9 centimeters in size. Aspire is not yet available One-150X, with 120 GB hard drive and Windows XP should, according to Acer 24.9 x 19.5 x 3.6 cm measure the weight is not yet known but is likely much higher than a kilogram.”

If the 120GB model has the 6 Cell battery, then it would make sense I think, if it doesn't, not so much. ie. The 19.5 and the 3.6 would be a result of a longer battery and maybe some elevation due to the bigger battery.

the german HDD-version will come with 80GB and the 3-cell-battery, the dimensions i found for it are the same as postet by king.
i think the reason for the bigger size is not the battery, it's the hard drive, in the SDD-version is not enough room for it, the SDD is much smaller

far as i know the 6cell model will only appear at the end of the year.
the current stock 80gig/120gb ones will come with the 3cell battery.

I know this is an asinine thing to say, but when the laptop is under 3 pounds, do you really think it really matters exactly how much it weighs? I could understand if it was 6 pounds, then half a pound makes a difference, but when it's already so light, I don't think I would notice it in a backpack either way.

After you've carried it for hours, it does make a difference indeed ;)

if it weighs under 1kg 300g are 30% more, i doubt that one wouldn't notice this.
but if your notebook weighs about 3kg then 300g are only 10%.

I certainly wouldn't go as far as to say that it's asinine, but I intend to carry mine around all the time so every few grams will make a difference. This is one of the reasons why I prefer the SSD version.

I have a full-size laptop that I carry around during my working day and it is far too heavy. It really does begin to give me back ache after a while. To paraphrase Wallis Simpson, a laptop can never be too fast or too light.
